Blessings Money Can't Buy!

As 2008 winds down, and we look ahead to a brand new year, let me take a minute to ask one simple question. "Do you realize just how blessed you are?"

We often think of blessings as being monetary or physical in nature. Turn on Christian television and you'll probably hear someone talking about God "blessing" you financially if you'll send money. Another will talk about the "blessing" of health...again, it will probably involve money. Even people who don't claim to be Christians will tell how "blessed" they are because of some wonderful gain in their lives. Now, before you think I'm bashing God's blessings and trying to say that He doesn't want us to be blessed, let me set your mind at ease. I believe that God does bless us! In fact, I agree with the David when he says in Psalm 16:2 that, "...Every Good thing I have comes from You." So what exactly am I trying to say? There are blessings that money can't buy!

We just got back from an evening of fun and fellowship with friends. That's it, plain and simple! We ate, played games, talked and laughed. We didn't have to take out a loan, solicit donations, or even use vacation time. We each made our own contribution, but it wasn't worldly...except for our physical presence. We simply shared the gift of friendship. We even had an unexpected blessing of seeing some friends that had moved away several months ago and had come back to visit their families. To put it bluntly, it was a blast! It was so much fun that time flew by and, before we knew it, it was time to go. The whole evening was one big blessing!

If you're having trouble counting your blessings, just start with the obvious...your friends and family. If you can count just one then you are blessed beyond measure!
